Today’s story practice is a quiet storm of memory, grief, and spiritual resilience. Written using the five prompt words Mirror, Stone, Path, Echo, Cup, this piece reflects the emotional journey of letting go and choosing self-love. It’s part of our daily ritual of writing through outsider moments and honoring inner strength.
Here’s the story:
Looking at myself in the mirror, my eyes roam zooms at the envelope lying on the bed.
It has been exactly three months, when my husband walked out of the door of our bedroom, his footsteps still echoes in our small home. Walking past the mirror, my feet takes me to the backyard.
All our memories rush back to me, us spending time planting scented primrose, plumeria, and lilies of valey. We had argued over and over about whether to make a stone path in the middle of garden or just let the grass grow freely.
On the sidetable there is his favorite cup, still sitting reminding of the last time we sat together and he announced he wanted a divorce from me, and me begging him to not leave me.
A single drop plumets from my left eye, closing my eyes, I take a deep breath. It is the time- time for me to leave him and move on. All the therapy sections have thought me one thing for sure, that I have to love myself. And this last thing is for my happiness and not for that cheater.
