Self care during cold and cough.

Hello,
Today is the start of a new week and also the start of a new month. Happy 1st September everyone! 🎉 I hope this month brings you lots of positivity, laughter, and joy that brighten your life. Since it’s Mental Health Monday, usually I share thoughts on hugs, failures, loneliness, or other heavy topics. But today, I’m going to rant a little—and also remind myself (and you) of the importance of self care.

My Weekend Expectations vs Self Care Reality

In my Thursday blog, I mentioned that my weekend would be all about scrolling Instagram and ignoring everything else. But life had its own plan. On Friday evening, my phone’s battery died. That meant—no Instagram scrolling, only forced self care time!

When Cold Came Knocking

On Saturday morning, I woke up with a cold. The night before, my throat was already sore, and by then it had turned worse. By Saturday night, I finally took medicine, hoping I would sleep peacefully. But that night was the worst.

  • One nostril was blocked.
  • I felt chills running through me.
  • My teeth, tongue, and throat started aching badly.
  • I couldn’t sleep at all.

Honestly, I never knew one blocked nostril could make life feel so dramatic.

Struggling Through Sunday

The whole of Sunday, I kept feeling cold. My hands and feet get affected easily, so they were freezing. Because I didn’t sleep well the previous night, my head was throbbing.

By today (the third day), my cold is still here. My throat hurts, I’ve developed a cough, and sometimes the itching in my throat makes me cough even more. Definitely not the weekend I had planned—but it was a weekend where my body demanded self care.

A Little Self Care Reminder

Even though this weekend was full of tissues, medicines, and coughing fits, it reminded me of something important—sometimes our body forces us to slow down. And that’s okay. Resting isn’t wasting time, it’s self care.

If your plans didn’t go the way you expected, don’t be hard on yourself. Listen to your body, give it rest, and take things one step at a time. That’s true self care in action.

Signing Off with Self Care

So sorry I couldn’t write about anything else today. But hey, life doesn’t always give us picture-perfect weekends. If your month also started on a rough note, don’t worry—better days are waiting.

Until then, take care of yourself, because no plan is bigger than your health. Wishing you a happy and self care-filled week ahead! 💛
