Cyclone Diary: Day Seven of Story Practice🔥

Writing a story on cyclone diary.

Some stories arrive like wind against a window — restless, loud, and full of longing. Today’s cyclone diary unfolded in the glow of a fireplace, with a diary open and a seafood dream postponed. It was a story of waiting, of weather, and of the quiet compass inside us all.

This daily writing ritual continues to be my way of honoring emotion through fiction. Each day, five words guide me into a new world. Today, they led me to a cyclone warning, a window full of rain, and a flame that kept hope alive — all recorded in my cyclone diary.

Today’s Cyclone Diary Story Practice

Words: Compass, Window, Ocean, Diary, Flame

It was a bright, sunny day — the air filled with excitement, music, and spicy, crunchy, good food. What does a person want more on their holiday, right? But, suddenly, some black angry clouds take over the sun’s reign and start pouring.

Today is the third day, and the rain hasn’t decided to stop yet. The news is constantly flashing a warning of a cyclone moving from the South of the sea to the coast.

The wind is howling in rage, as if ready to tear down anyone who dares to stop it.

The crackling of the fire took my attention away from the window. The red, orange flames are dancing happily. At least, it is warm here; a shiver runs down my spine thinking of the cyclone. My inner compass longs for the warmth of fire.

In the glow of the fireplace, my diary lies open. Images of red, green, and blue lanterns outside the restaurant make me long for it. I had my reservations made in advance to enjoy their seafood platter. But this damn rain won’t stop.

“Please, God — just stop this. I want to enjoy buttery, garlicky prawns alongside my Sangiovese.” Sighing, I decide to wait for the rain to stop, and by the time it stops, I might have to catch my flight back home.

Tomorrow’s Cyclone Diary Challenge

Here are the five words for tomorrow’s story:
🕰️ Clock, Window, Feather, Bridge, Silence
Let’s see what kind of cyclone diary these words will inspire — perhaps a bridge between memories, a feather drifting through silence, or a clock ticking toward something unsaid.
