If I could give one piece of advice to someone younger than me, it would be this: find Small Joys in everyday life and love yourself enough. These two lessons have shaped my journey, and I believe they can make anyone’s path more meaningful.
Small Joys in Daily Life
We often think happiness comes only from big achievements or milestones. But when we look back, it is the Small Joys that bring the brightest smiles. Like the time my grandpa, my cousin, and I fought over my sweatshirt—it was silly, but it still warms my heart today. These little moments make life rich and memorable.
Love Yourself Enough
Life is full of challenges. People may hurt us, prove us wrong, or try to bring us down. In those moments, loving yourself becomes your shield. It means being kind to yourself, forgiving your mistakes, and treating yourself with the same gentleness you show others.
There was a time when I kept waiting for others to understand me. When that didn’t happen, I felt hurt and disappointed. Learning to be kinder to myself changed that. I stopped expecting others to understand me and began protecting my own heart.
I learned this lesson the hard way, but once I started loving myself, I grew stronger. Loving yourself does not mean being perfect—it means standing by yourself even on the days when life feels difficult.
Why Small Joys and Self-Love Matter
As we move forward, life will give us both good and bad times. Remembering the good and learning from the bad makes our journey beautiful. Younger people often focus only on goals and checklists, which is important, but not enough. You also need Small Joys and self-love to balance the weight of ambition.
