Today is Thursday, but I feel a little tired and drained. This week has been slowed down by an eye infection, and it has taken more energy than I expected. Because of that, I am not planning to write anything new or different today.
Sometimes the mind simply needs a pause, and today feels like one of those days.
When the Eye Infection Started
Last Saturday, my right eye suddenly turned red. At first, I thought it would go away on its own. But by Sunday, the redness had increased, so I decided to visit the doctor.
The doctor explained that it was an eye infection that looks very similar to Pink Eye, but it is not exactly the same. The symptoms only appear similar.
My eye was red and watery after waking up. It was difficult to open in the morning, itchy during the day, and sometimes it even felt like something sharp was inside the eye.
If you are curious about the symptoms and causes of pink eye, Mayo Clinic explains them very clearly in their health guide.
Following Treatment for the Eye Infection
The doctor prescribed a drop and an ointment to treat the infection. She also warned me not to touch the other eye because the infection might spread. She advised washing hands regularly and using a clean cloth.
I followed every instruction carefully. I used the medicine on time and tried to be cautious so it would heal quickly.
When the Eye Infection Decided to Travel
After a few days, my right eye slowly started feeling better. The pain reduced, although some itching remained. I still have three days of treatment left.
But today, at almost the exact same time the first infection began earlier this week, my left eye turned red.
Now my right eye is almost better, and my left eye has started hurting and itching. It honestly feels like it simply moved from one eye to the other.
With both eyes uncomfortable, I feel even more tired and drained. My brain feels sluggish too, and no ideas seem to appear today.
Finding a Little Humor
There was one slightly funny moment in this whole eye infection situation.
Yesterday, my right eye had become a little smaller because of the infection, while my left eye looked completely normal. It made me look slightly odd.
But now that the left eye is swollen too, both eyes look the same again.
So if anything good came out of this situation, at least they are symmetric now — and I am no longer looking funny.
A Quiet Thursday
So this Thursday, there are no deep thoughts, no big reflections, and no new ideas.
Just a tired mind, two irritated eyes, and the simple hope that this eye infection clears up soon.
Sometimes resting and letting the body heal is exactly what we need.
