Letting go of certain parts of life can be freeing, especially when those times were filled with pain. For me, childhood and my teenage years were not happy times. They were full of comparison, self-doubt, and the constant need to make others happy. These years were even harder because my parents often argued. Their fights were loud and frequent—sometimes five or more days a week. This made the house feel tense and unsafe. The emotional weight of those arguments stayed with me, making those years difficult to live through.
Finding My Escape
Even though my parents still argue today, I have learned how to block out the noise. Now, I focus on finding my peace. One way I escape is by reading romance novels. These stories take me far away from the chaos and into worlds filled with love, kindness, and hope. They let me imagine a life where happiness and gentleness are possible. Reading has become my way to create a little bubble of comfort for myself, even when things around me feel out of control.
Learning to Love Myself
The biggest change in my life has been learning how to love myself. I no longer need other people’s approval to feel good about who I am. It wasn’t easy to make this change, but it was worth it. Now, I choose to focus on my own happiness. I’ve learned how to care for myself and protect my peace, even when the world around me feels loud and messy.
Looking Ahead
Letting go of my childhood and teenage years has helped me move forward. I don’t miss those times, but I know they taught me some important lessons. They made me stronger. Today, I leave the pain behind and look forward to a life full of peace, joy, and self-love.
