Cooking isn’t just about making food; it’s about creating memories, experimenting with flavors, and sharing the joy of a good meal with loved ones. Here are some of my favorite things to cook:
Peas Curry
I love making peas curry. I cook the peas in a rich tomato-based gravy, spiced with a blend of cumin, coriander, and garam masala. It pairs perfectly with rice or roti.
Fried Eggplant or Potato
Frying eggplant or potatoes is always a delight. I slice them thinly, season with salt, turmeric, and chili powder, and fry them until crispy and golden. It’s a quick and satisfying side dish.
Noodles
When it comes to noodles, I enjoy their versatility. I cook them with a mix of vegetables and a savory soy sauce. This dish can be whipped up in no time and always hits the spot.
Pav Bhaji
Pav bhaji is a street food favorite. I prepare the bhaji by mashing vegetables and cooking them with spices and a lot of butter. Then, I serve it with buttered pav (bread rolls). It’s a hearty and delicious meal that’s perfect for any time of the day.
Besan Ladoo
I enjoy making besan ladoos, which are sweet treats made from chickpea flour, sugar, and ghee. They are flavored with cardamom and garnished with nuts. Although making these ladoos requires some effort, the end result is worth it.
Sweet Pumpkin Puri
Sweet pumpkin puris are a delight to make. I create these deep-fried breads using pumpkin puree, flavored with cardamom and fennel seeds. They are slightly sweet and make for a delightful treat.
Baking Cake
Baking a cake is a delightful experience for me. I love experimenting with different flavors and decorations. A simple vanilla or chocolate cake can bring joy to any celebration.
Misal
Misal is another favorite dish. I make this spicy curry using sprouted lentils and top it with farsan (crispy toppings). I serve it with bread, and it’s a popular breakfast dish in Maharashtra, full of flavors and textures.
Rice Kheer
Making rice kheer is always a pleasure. I create this creamy and sweet rice pudding using milk, sugar, and cardamom. I garnish it with nuts and dried fruits, making it a perfect dessert for any occasion.
Cheese Toast
Lastly, I enjoy making cheese toast. I top bread slices with cheese and grill them until the cheese melts and becomes golden. This quick and easy snack is perfect for any time of the day.
Each of these dishes holds a special place in my heart. They are more than just recipes; they connect me with loved ones and share a piece of my culture. Cooking these dishes brings joy and satisfaction, making every meal a memorable experience.
